Massage
We offer relaxing massage for reducing muscle tension and pain, stress and anxiety and for enhancing sleep and general well-being through relaxation. Massage also increases circulation of body fluids like blood and lymph, which helps to strengthen the immune system.
We specialize in injury treatment and rehabilitation, structural reeducation and integration adjunctive to acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Swedish massage: Techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions.
Lomi lomi: The massage is given in a fluid, rhythmic motion working with the body’s natural flow and rhythm. Thus lomi-lomi is also known as "Loving Hands" or "Temple Style" massage. At completion of the massage, you will feel blissfully relaxed, with the benefits of the healing continuing long after the massage has ended.
Hot Stone: Using heated smooth volcanic stones, collected from the island of Maui, as extended tools of the massage therapist’s hands, this unusual healing massage will mesmerise you. The heat of the stones penetrates deep into the layers of your muscles, and remaining stones are placed on energy points of the body, bringing you to a level of deepest relaxation.
Thai: In Thai Massage, stretching, energy work and acupressure are used to open energy channels, allowing the body to rebalance and thus heal itself. Applying pressure to points along the energy lines combined with gentle rocking, compression, and elongating the muscles with yoga-like stretches serves to relax tight muscles and open stiff joints, allowing energy to flow with less obstruction.
Shiatsu: Is a pressure-point massage designed to regulate the flow of life energy in the body. Pressure is applied by thumb, fingers, palms or feet to the body's surface to stimulate healing of body and mind. Shiatsu produces deep relaxation, increases energy levels, and brings the body back to balance.
CranioSacral Therapy: Is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
Deep tissue: Is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Neuromuscular Therapy: NMT consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm. The pressure is usually applied with the fingers, knuckles, or elbow. Once applied to a muscle spasm, the pressure should not vary for ten to thirty seconds. After the muscle is relaxed in this way the lactic acid will be released and the muscle should start receiving enough blood and oxygen.
